Who is responsible for your data

The data controller is the owner and operator of GioAviation.aero, an individual based in Italy. For anything about your data, write to contact@gioaviation.aero.

What data we collect, and why

When you request access. Your full name, email address, operator or school (optional), and the role, aircraft or course and intended use you describe. We use them to review your request and reply to you. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before giving you access, and our legitimate interest in keeping the library for aviation professionals.

When you have an account. Your password (stored only as a salted hash, never in readable form), and the profile you complete at first login: first and last name, year of birth, role and, optionally, total flight hours. We use them to run your account and decide what you can open. Legal basis: providing the service you asked for.

Email notifications. Only if you tick the box or turn it on in the member area, we send you one email each time a new article or document is published. We store that you opted in and the date, and the date you opt out. Legal basis: your consent. If you do nothing, you receive no notification emails. Emails about your access request or account (for example the activation link) are service messages and are sent regardless.

Technical data. A session cookie keeps you signed in. It is strictly necessary, lasts up to 30 days, and is removed when you log out. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and time of request) for security and operation.

Who handles your data for us

• Cloudflare: hosting, database and file storage.
• Resend: sending emails (activation links and notifications).
• Google Fonts: the site loads its typeface from Google, so your browser contacts Google servers and your IP address is visible to them.

These providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, under safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not sell your data and we do not share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account or request exists. Rejected or never-activated requests are deleted periodically. You can ask us to delete your data at any time, and we will do so unless the law requires us to keep it.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or stop its use, or send it to you in a portable format. You can withdraw your consent to notification emails at any time: use the link in any notification email, or the notification settings when you are logged in. Withdrawing does not affect emails already sent.

To use any of these rights, write to contact@gioaviation.aero. If you think we handled your data wrongly, you can complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or to the authority in your own country.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
